El perfil del egresado de la Maestría en Ciencias en Ingeniería Mecánica, es de que, el egresado será un profesional con habilidades y actitudes para aplicar en su ámbito profesional, de tal manera que al egresar de la maestría sea capaz de generar y aplicar sus conocimientos tanto en el ámbito académico, público, industrial y de investigación; esto es, identificar, plantear y dar soluciones a problemas de su campo disciplinario, participar en asesorías, consultorías, investigación básica y aplicada, y en desarrollo tecnológico en ámbitos académicos relacionados con su campo disciplinario, formar recursos humanos de alto nivel técnico, licenciatura y de maestría en su campo disciplinario, y desempeñar actividades profesionales de alto nivel en el desarrollo tecnológico en los ámbitos productivos a nivel regional y nacional. Además, podrá con estudios a nivel doctorado, en instituciones tanto nacionales como internacionales.
Esta oferta educativa está diseñada como un medio de superación académica, para los egresados en diversas áreas de las ingenierías, tales como Ingeniería Mecánica, Ingeniería Electromecánica, Ingeniería Mecatrónica, Ingeniería Química, Ingeniería en Energía, Ingeniería Industrial y licenciaturas afines. El grado del aspirante deberá ser expedido por una institución nacional, o en su caso, contar con la revalidación correspondiente. El candidato a la Maestría en Ciencias en Ingeniería Mecánica deberá contar con amplio dominio en matemáticas, así como del área en la que se desea orientar (Diseño Mecánico o energética); además de conocimientos en el manejo de software, comprensión y redacción de textos en español e inglés. Como habilidades el alumno deberá tener una buena comprensión de lectura, capacidad de análisis, crítica y síntesis, y adaptación a diferentes ambientes de trabajo, de manera individual y en grupo. El aspirante debe mostrar aptitud positiva, disponibilidad, compromiso y responsabilidad para realizar sus actividades académicas.
